Biyografi

Sosyal-kültürel antropoloji alanında doçent olan Ramazan Aras lisans derecesini Sakarya Üniversitesi Sosyoloji Bölümü’nden, yüksek lisans derecesini Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Tarih Bölümü’nden ve doktora derecesini The University of Western Ontario (Kanada) Antropoloji Bölümün’den aldı. 2005-2007 ve 2008-2009 yılları arasında Western Ontario Üniversitesi’nde öğretim görevlisi olarak çalıştı. Temmuz 2010-Mart 2017 döneminde Mardin Artuklu Üniversitesi Antropoloji Bölümü’nde Kurucu Bölüm Başkanı ve öğretim üyesi olarak çalıştı. Ulusal ve uluslararası kitap, kitap bölümü ve makaleleri bulunan Aras’ın The Formation of Kurdishness in Turkey: Political Violence, Fear and Pain (Routledge, 2013), Sınırları Aşmak: Türkiye’de Sosyo-Kültürel Antropoloji ve Disiplinlerarası Yaklaşımlar (2014) ve Mayın ve Kaçakçı: Türkiye-Suriye Sınırını İnşa ve Bozma Pratikleri (2015) adlı kitap çalışmaları bulunmaktadır. Türkiye’de Din, Devlet, Toplum ve Hafıza 1923-1950 adlı sözlü tarih projesini Prof. Dr. R. Şentürk ile beraber yürütmektedir.
